How to Get Hoptail in Aniimo: Hoptail Event Guide, Spawn Spot, Research Bonuses and Hoptail Soul
Hoptail has no wild habitat: Aniimo Discovery’s searches place it on a Blitzwood cliff. MysticKorea caught 12 on day one, one of them Perfect; we checked his refill timer, the 12 research quests, the Research Center bonuses and the Hoptail Soul evolution against the game’s own tables.

The event screens, the Blitzwood spawn spot, the search advice and the Perfect Hoptail on this page come from MysticKorea’s video of 5 November 2026
To get Hoptail in Aniimo, open Events › Aniimo Discovery between 6 November 2026, 04:00 and 20 November, 03:59 (UTC+8), press Search, and catch the Hoptail that gather on the Blitzwood cliff just north of the Bloom nurture point. The event is the only source of Hoptail, and its Hoptail Soul reward is the only key to the Bolty-to-Hoptail evolution. MysticKorea played it on the first day and came away with 12 Hoptail from four searches, one of them Perfect.
This guide follows his video of 5 November 2026 screen by screen: the search counter, the spawn spot, the 12 research quests, the three Research Center bonuses, and his one piece of advice, which is to clear the easy quests before you spend more searches. Hoptail’s stats, skills and trait are on its Aniidex page and its recommended set-up on the Hoptail build page. This page is about getting one, and our event calendar entry carries the dates.
Figures from the game’s own data files, build 1.1.3846247 (1.1 Part 2), checked 6 November 2026. Numbers read off MysticKorea’s screen carry the video timestamp.
How do you get Hoptail in Aniimo?
Both routes run through Aniimo Discovery: catch Hoptail from the event’s searches, or evolve a Bolty at level 33 with a Gust Stone once the event has paid you a Hoptail Soul. Hoptail has no wild habitat. The event table sets the unlock at the Student II title, the same gate as the Dazmand run in September, and the event sits in the Events menu under the Aniimo Discovery tab.
Catching is the fast route. MysticKorea’s four working searches produced 12 Hoptail, three a search. Evolving needs the Soul, which arrives only after 20 catches and one Elite, so it is the route to a second Hoptail or a better one, not the first. Hoptail is the second branch of the Bolty line, next to Blazen, and the evolution section below sets out exactly what the branch asks for.
The event’s rules text explains the loop in six numbered lines. Three of them matter more than the rest: “Pathfinders can spend search attempts to track the Aniimo across Idyll and catch it”, “Unused free search attempts cannot be accumulated, so please remember to use them in time”, and “Based on your investigation quest progress, you can unlock different search bonuses in the Research Center.”
Hoptail searches: five per refill, three free, refilled on Mondays and Fridays
Each refill gives five searches, the first three free, and the refills land at 04:00 server time on Friday 6, Monday 9, Friday 13 and Monday 16 November: four refills and 20 searches over the event, 12 of them free. MysticKorea’s screen at 0:36 reads “Remaining Searches: 0/5 (First 3 are free)” above “2d 23h until reset”, recorded a little after the Friday opening.
MysticKorea describes it as five searches a week that reset on Monday. The countdown agrees about Monday, but the event table holds four refill times, two a week, so the counter fills again on the Friday after. The times below are for UTC+8 servers. The files carry two later starts on the same days, at 04:00 and 08:00 UTC, for the other server groups, which fits MysticKorea’s remark that the event opens “whenever your daily restart happens”.
| Refill | Day | UTC+8 servers | Other server groups |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Friday 6 November | 04:00 (20:00 UTC on 5 November) | 04:00 or 08:00 UTC |
| 2 | Monday 9 November | 04:00 (20:00 UTC on 8 November) | 04:00 or 08:00 UTC |
| 3 | Friday 13 November | 04:00 (20:00 UTC on 12 November) | 04:00 or 08:00 UTC |
| 4 | Monday 16 November | 04:00 (20:00 UTC on 15 November) | 04:00 or 08:00 UTC |
| End | Friday 20 November | 03:59 (19:59 UTC on 19 November) | 03:59 or 07:59 UTC |
Searches four and five cost Vein Essence. The rules say “If you currently have no free search attempts remaining, you can spend Vein Essence and search attempts to continue searching”, and the event table prices each search at one Vein Essence. The blue counter in the top corner of MysticKorea’s screen read 25. Free searches do not carry over, so a player who skips the first refill window loses its three.
A tracked group does not wait for ever. The search table gives it 600 seconds, ten minutes, which matches the countdown our Dazmand event guide watched in September. That timer matters for MysticKorea’s empty first search, further down.
Where does Hoptail spawn? On the cliff north of the Bloom in Blitzwood
In MysticKorea’s searches the Hoptail turned up in Blitzwood, Breezy Plains, on the high cliff just north of the Bloom nurture point, by a lone pine near the cliff edge, at about map coordinates -0633, 0606. “Where we are on the map right here is we’re just north of the nurture in Blitzwood,” he says at 2:11. “It’s still technically within Blitzwood and it’s still on this cliff.”
The “nurture” he means is that Bloom marker, the place where you start a Nurture; our Nurture guide covers what it does. The nearest teleport beacon on that map is west of the Bloom; from it, head east and up the slope to the tree. Hoptail, he says, “spawn in a big old pile. And I mean, when I say a pile, I mean they’re literally on top of each other.”
The Aniimo walking about in this part of the video are wild Bolty, and the blue one is MysticKorea’s own Hoptail. That fits the files: the Hoptail search table lists Bolty and Hoptail together, and Bolty’s only habitat is Blitzwood. Our interactive map filtered on Bolty in Blitzwood draws its spawn zones. Hoptail has no marker there, because the search places it, not a spawn table.
The search table also points to a single map marker for Hoptail rather than a list of places, and the Dazmand table did the same: both of AniimoSync’s Dazmand searches landed on one hilltop. So the cliff is very likely the spot for every player. Still check your own tracked marker before you fly.
The search that found nothing
MysticKorea’s very first search showed him the spot, but “when I got there, there was nothing there.” He had searched at night, from Whisperwake Isles. His advice is to travel to Blitzwood first, make it daytime, and only then search: “I don’t know if they spawn at night. I didn’t really bother testing it.” That is his experience from one search, not a confirmed rule, and it cost him one of his five.
There is a second possible reading. The search table carries no time-of-day field, but it does give a found group ten minutes, and the trip back from Whisperwake Isles to Breezy Plains eats into that. Either way the fix is the same: stand on the cliff in daylight, then press Search.
All 12 Hoptail research quests and their rewards
The 12 research quests sit on a screen called Ecological Investigation, in three tabs: Catch Aniimo (5 quests), Aniimo Trials (3) and Aniimo Companions (4), each with a bonus for finishing the tab. The quest wording below is the game’s. The video shows the rewards as icons without hovering them, so their names come from the item table, matched by icon and count.
| Tab | Quest, as written in game | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Catch Aniimo | Catch a total of 3 Hoptail. | Tumbler x1 |
| Catch Aniimo | Catch a total of 5 Hoptail. | Tumbler x1 |
| Catch Aniimo | Catch a total of 10 Hoptail. | Tumbler x2 |
| Catch Aniimo | Catch a total of 20 Hoptail. | Shining Hoptail Egg x1 |
| Catch Aniimo | Catch 1 Elite or higher-rated Hoptail. | Tumbler x3 |
| All 5 done | Complete all quests in this investigation. | Hoptail Soul x1, Tumbler x5 |
| Aniimo Trials | Defeat 1 Aniimo while Hoptail is deployed. | Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystal x40 |
| Aniimo Trials | Defeat 3 Aniimo while Hoptail is deployed. | Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystal x50 |
| Aniimo Trials | Defeat 5 Aniimo while Hoptail is deployed. | Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystal x60 |
| All 3 done | Complete all quests in this investigation. | Psyche Fruit x2, Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystal x50 |
| Aniimo Companions | Use any of Hoptail’s skills 1 time. | Growth Fruit x10 |
| Aniimo Companions | Use any of Hoptail’s skills 3 times. | Growth Fruit x15 |
| Aniimo Companions | Use any of Hoptail’s skills 5 times. | Growth Fruit x20 |
| Aniimo Companions | Use Hoptail’s Ultimate 1 time. | Growth Fruit x20 |
| All 4 done | Complete all quests in this investigation. | Sparkling Crystal x100, Flux Crystal x3 |
Every icon on screen matches a line of the table: the white Tumbler with counts of 1, 1, 2 and 3 on the catch lines, the green Dewdrop Crystals of 40, 50 and 60 on the Trials, the pink and green Growth Fruit of 10, 15, 20 and 20 on the Companions. “Elite or higher-rated” means Elite or Perfect, and the Ultimate quest is tied to Bouncy, Hoptail’s innate Ultimate.
Added up, the 12 quests pay 12 Tumblers, 200 Breezy Plains Dewdrop Crystals, 2 Psyche Fruit, 65 Growth Fruit, 100 Sparkling Crystals, 3 Flux Crystals, the egg and the Soul. Each Growth Fruit grants 25,000 Aniimo EXP, 1,625,000 in all. The Sparkling Crystals are a tenth of a Sparkling Cube, which an outpost vendor exchanges for 1,000 of them; our Aniipods and Sparkling Cubes guide covers that exchange. Psyche Fruit changes an Aniimo’s personality.
The reward lines are the same as in the Dazmand run, apart from two: the 20-catch line pays the Shining Hoptail Egg where Dazmand’s showed a golden egg of its own, and the tab bonus pays Hoptail Soul where Dazmand’s paid Thunder Soul. Clear the Companions tab first, because it asks for nothing but a Hoptail in your party.
Research Center bonuses: Nova, Potential and Sparkling Secrets
The Research Center turns quests into three search bonuses, four quests per tier, filled in order: Nova Secrets lifts the chance of meeting Hoptail to 1.5 times the basic chance, Potential Secrets lifts the Perfect chance by up to 200%, and Sparkling Secrets lifts the Sparkling chance. The rules line promises a “bonus applied in real time!”, so each milestone counts from your next search.
| Tier | What the screen says | Milestones 1 · 2 · 3 · 4 | Filled by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nova Secrets | “The chance to encounter Hoptail during searches is increased to 1.5x the basic chance.” | Full tier shown, 1.5x | Quests 1 to 4 |
| Potential Secrets | “Increased chance to obtain Perfect” | 125% · 150% · 175% · 200% | Quests 5 to 8 |
| Sparkling Secrets | Locked in the video | Not shown | Quests 9 to 12 |
The files explain the 1.5x. The search table weights Hoptail at 30 against Bolty’s 70, and a full Nova tier adds 27.27 to Hoptail’s weight: 57.27 out of 127.27 is 45%, exactly 1.5 times 30%. What that weight draws is not stated. It does not obviously mean more Hoptail per search: MysticKorea averaged three, and AniimoSync’s second Dazmand search gave three again with the encounter bonus full.
Any quest counts towards the next milestone, whatever its tab. His 5/12 at 0:36 was four catch quests and one Companions quest, and it shows as Nova Secrets 4/4 and Potential Secrets 1/4. The files hold no figure for the Potential tier, so the 125% to 200% row is the screen’s alone, and the game does not say whether “200%” multiplies the base Perfect rate or adds to it.
For Sparkling Secrets the files say more than the screen. Searched Hoptail carry a Sparkling rate of 0.0001, 1 in 10,000, and the full tier adds another 0.0001. If that addition is the whole story, a fully researched search rolls 1 in 5,000 for each Hoptail. That is our reading of two table values, not a published rate.
MysticKorea’s advice: finish Trials and Companions before searching again
“Go ahead and use these and max these out before you bother doing your next two, three, four, or five nurture attempt searches,” MysticKorea says at 3:58: catch your first Hoptail, then clear the three Aniimo Trials and four Aniimo Companions quests before your next search. He learned it the hard way: “I didn’t even see this when I first did this event and I completely missed out on it.” In his own run he spent four searches first, which is why his Potential tier still reads 1/4.
The arithmetic backs him. The first search gives three Hoptail and ticks the 3-catch quest. The seven Trials and Companions quests need nothing but a Hoptail in your party, so they take you to 8 of 12: Nova Secrets and Potential Secrets both full, which puts the 1.5x and the 200% Perfect boost on every search after that.
- Stand on the Blitzwood cliff in daylight and spend one free search. Catch the three Hoptail. (1 of 12)
- Put Hoptail in your party and use its skills five times, then its Ultimate, Bouncy, once. (5 of 12)
- Defeat five Aniimo with Hoptail deployed. (8 of 12: Nova and Potential Secrets full)
- Spend the remaining searches, catching towards 5, 10 and 20 Hoptail and an Elite.
Sparkling Secrets is where the plan runs out of road. It is the third tier, so it needs all 12 quests, and the last four are the 5, 10 and 20 catches and the Elite. At three Hoptail a search, the 20th catch lands on the seventh search, so the Sparkling bonus helps from the eighth. A player who only uses free searches has 12 in the event and five boosted ones left; one who also buys searches four and five at every refill has 13 of 20. Even at 1 in 5,000, 13 searches of three Hoptail are 39 rolls, about a 0.8% chance of a Sparkling one. MysticKorea’s point that the tier helps “without wasting your sparkling pods” holds, but the odds stay small.
Perfect Hoptail, the Shining Hoptail Egg and Umbral
MysticKorea’s Hoptail is already Perfect: the Aniimo screen at 5:26 shows a Lv.52 male Hoptail, DPS, CP 1352, with the yellow Perfect tag. He caught it on the first day, with his Potential tier at 1/4 by the end of it, which is a reminder that the boost raises odds rather than creating them.
The guaranteed route is the 20-catch reward. Its item text reads: “Brimming with vibrant life, this egg nurtures an exceptionally gifted Aniimo. Guaranteed to hatch a Hoptail with Perfect potential.” It is the golden egg among the Main Rewards, it hatches in an Outpost or Home Hatchinator, and despite the name it promises Perfect potential, not a Sparkling coat. Our egg list carries it, and the Perfect potential guide explains what Perfect changes. At three Hoptail a search, the egg is seven searches away, so a free-only player gets it during the third refill window, from 13 November.
MysticKorea ends on the Umbral form: “I’m very curious to see what the umbrell looks like.” Hoptail’s Umbral rate is 1 in 3,000 and an Umbral’s Innate Potential is always Perfect, but the Umbral look disappears on evolution, so an Umbral Bolty evolved into Hoptail loses it. How Sparkling colours work is on our Sparkling variants page.
Hoptail Soul and the branching evolution from Bolty
Hoptail Soul is the Evolution Material paid for clearing the Catch Aniimo tab, which means 20 Hoptail and an Elite, and it is what lets a Bolty evolve into Hoptail instead of Blazen. The tooltip at 5:16: “Earned in the ‘Aniimo Discovery’ event. Holds the spirit of a Hoptail elite, enabling Hoptail’s Branching Evolution.” The flavour line reads “Zephyr’s Breath flows and swirls, and you can feel the tremendous power contained within.” MysticKorea owned none yet.
The evolution table spells out the branch. A Bolty evolves into Hoptail at level 33 for one Gust Stone, the Wind evolution stone, with a second condition that reads “Complete the related missions of the Aniimo Discovery event.” and checks that you hold a Hoptail Soul. The Blazen branch from the same level takes a Roar Stone, the Lightning stone, instead. The table lists the Soul as a condition, not as a cost, so whether one Soul evolves more than one Bolty stays open until someone tries it.
MysticKorea calls Hoptail “a wind and electric type”; the game says Wind and Lightning, which makes it the first Wind member of a Lightning line. No other source of Hoptail Soul or the Shining Hoptail Egg turns up in the files, so after 20 November the evolution needs a Soul you already earned. Whether Hoptail earns a squad slot is a build question, answered on the build page and on the Wind element page; MysticKorea is curious too, wondering whether players will find a use for it “in battles or in egg heist”.
Where the video and the game differ
- The video says five searches a week, reset on Monday. The event table refills on Mondays and on Fridays, four times in all, five searches each time.
- The commentary calls Hoptail Wind and electric; the game says Wind and Lightning.
- The auto captions hear “Hobtail”, “Animo”, “Dasmint” and “Jasmine”. The screen says Hoptail, Aniimo and Dazmand, and the “nurture” is the Bloom marker.
- MysticKorea suspects night for his empty first search. The search table has no time-of-day rule, and the ten-minute timer is the other suspect; neither is confirmed.
