Aniimo Melloblum: How to Get It, the Rosetower Woods Questline and Whiterose Tower, With WOLF
Melloblum hides behind a Journey that starts at a tea party in the Sea of Flowers and ends at the top of Whiterose Tower. WOLF played the whole Flowers and Thorns chain in 4K; we read every objective, item card and the Evolve screen off his footage and checked them against our Aniidex and the game’s data files.

To get Melloblum in Aniimo, finish the Flowers and Thorns Journey that runs from the Sea of Flowers into Rosetower Woods, then evolve a Budsquire of level 27 or higher whose personality contains Faithful, paying one Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose and one green evolution stone. The same questline lets you catch a wild Melloblum in the Maze of Thorns once her Dance of Blissful Bloom is restored, and it is the only way into Whiterose Tower, the thorn-wrapped tower most players fly past without finding a door.
WOLF played the whole chain in 4K and posted it on 28 September 2026. We read the quest names, objectives and item cards off his footage and checked them against our Melloblum Aniidex entry and the game’s data files, build 1.0.0.7. The timing is useful: Prismana Melloblum is the boosted creature of Rosetower Woods from 28 September to 5 October 2026, so the region is worth a trip this week anyway.
How do you get Melloblum in Aniimo?
Four routes, and the questline feeds two of them. Evolution and the wild catch both need Flowers and Thorns. The egg and the Prismana Form do not.
| Route | What it takes | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Evolve Budsquire | Journey Flowers and Thorns complete, Aniimo level 27, personality contains Faithful, 1 green evolution stone and 1 Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose | Evolve screen, any time after the Journey |
| Catch it wild | Restore Melloblum’s Dance of Blissful Bloom | Maze of Thorns, Rosetower Woods |
| Hatch it | A Perfect Melloblum Egg: one of three picks in the Custom Egg Box - Support, one of three random results in the Mystery Egg Box - Support | Your egg inventory |
| Prismana Form | Prismana Melloblum, Grass and Light, boosted by Vein Abundance | Rosetower Woods, 28 September 04:00 to 5 October 03:59 (UTC+8) |
The catch is the quickest Melloblum: WOLF catches his in the ruins straight after the dance. Evolution is the better one if you care what you get, because you choose the Budsquire. Faithful is required anyway, and Budsquire is common: the game’s data files put 117 Budsquire spawn points on the map, 92 in the Sea of Flowers and 25 in Rosetower Woods, before counting the 87 of the Towerwood Form. Catch a few, keep the Faithful one with the best Potential, and evolve that.
Every Flowers and Thorns quest and step at a glance
The Journey is not one quest in the tracker. Its title changes as you go, and it borrows a second storyline, Awen’s, halfway through. These are the tracker titles as printed, in order. WOLF tracks another quest in the Sea of Flowers, so that row uses the chapter name our Thunderstorm Thornblade guide recorded.
| Quest, as on screen | Where | Objective | What you come away with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flowers and Thorns, Sea of Flowers | Abandoned cottage, Sea of Flowers | Hear the Storyteller Budsquire, beat the four Lethal Thorns outside, hear the end | The end of the story; in rain, a Thunderstorm Thornblade and its Pale Thorn |
| A Fragrant Journey: Rosetower Woods | Rosetower Woods, then Whiterose Tower | Track down a perfumer somewhere in Rosetower Woods, then follow Awen to the ancient perfume workshop | A tower you cannot enter, and the records of Princess Melloblum |
| Flowers and Thorns - Rosetower Wood | Maze of Thorns | Explore the legend of Flowers and Thorns in the Maze of Thorns. Defeat the First Lethal Thorn. | The Dance of Blissful Bloom, and a Melloblum to catch |
| Flowers and Thorns: Rosetower Wood - Sightseeing | Around Whiterose Tower | See how Rosetower Woods has transformed. Twine with a Budsquire and hit the Cubbo’s rose. | Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose |
| A Fragrant Journey: Rosetower Woods | Inside and on top of Whiterose Tower | Explore the interior of Whiterose Tower. Twine with a Dewy and gather nectar at the top of the tower. Go to the Dewy nest to brew an aromathyst. | Whitesnow Rose Aromathyst, then Awen’s perfume, Home |
WOLF calls the whole thing The Legend of Flowers and Thorns, the name on his thumbnail. The Evolve screen shortens it to “Journey: Flowers and Thorns”. Same chain. Do not confuse it with Dance of Flowers and Thorns, chapter 5 of the Elite Training Core Courses, which has nothing to do with Melloblum.
Where does the Rosetower Woods questline start?
Not in Rosetower Woods. It starts at an abandoned cottage in the Sea of Flowers, where a group of Budsquires is holding a tea party. WOLF makes the point in his first minute: if you want inside the tower, you begin somewhere else entirely. It is the same red-roofed house our Thunderstorm Thornblade guide sends you to, and walking up to it is what opens the chapter.
Talk to the Storyteller Budsquire. It begins a story about a Budsquire brother and his little sister and the sacrifices they made for each other, then breaks off: Storytelling is hard work too, you know. Let me take a break, Pathfinder! The break is your first fight.
The four Lethal Thorns and the Pale Thorn
Walk to the crumbling windmill, talk to each of the four Lethal Thorns there, then beat all four. Each one tells you a little of how it became a Thornblade before it fights. Three names are legible on WOLF’s screen, Carola, Carolina and Carlos, and Carlos is a Lv.40.
With all four down, go back to the cottage for the end of the story. The Storyteller admits that if given another chance, the sister would stop her brother “the night of the thunderstorm”. That line is the hook for the optional part.
If it is raining while you do this, a Thunderstorm Thornblade walks in front of the cottage. Catch it. WOLF’s catch pays an item, the Pale Thorn, whose card completes the story you have just heard: the brother challenged one famed Lethal Thorn after another, lost, and walked into a thunderstorm to become stronger. No rain, no Thornblade, but nothing in the Journey waits on it, so come back on a wet day. Our Thunderstorm Thornblade entry has the spawn, which the game’s data files place in the Sea of Flowers and nowhere else.
Awen and the Cubbo territory
Enter Rosetower Woods and the tracker switches to A Fragrant Journey: Rosetower Woods, pointing you at a perfumer. She is Awen, standing over a strange rose: Is this... a Cubbo’s rose? It’s just as described in the notes. WOLF’s captions spell her “Awin”; the subtitle on screen reads Awen.
Awen explains that the pollen of these roses can put the Cubbo to sleep even when they are enraged, that her ancestors once made perfume at Whiterose Tower, and that she wants in because her family’s past may be waiting there. She leaves for “that ancient perfume workshop” and asks you to meet her there.
How do you find a way into Whiterose Tower?
You cannot, yet. The door is boarded up and wrapped in giant thorns, and it only opens after Melloblum dances again in the Maze of Thorns. That is the answer to the question most people arrive with. The tower stands in Rosetower Woods and has its own teleport, Whiterose Tower on our map, but on your first visit the quest only wants you to look around.
Scattered around the entrance are old records, a five-chapter tale called Princess Melloblum and the Seven Budsquires. They are worth reading, because they explain every later step. Rosetower Woods was once the Beardow Woods, where Princess Melloblum and her Budsquires lived beside the people of Bloomville. A flower with “a faint fragrance, reminiscent of snow” kept the ill-tempered Cubbo family away. Then the whitesnow rose and the Cubbo’s roses withered, the Cubbos and Grizbos woke up, the villagers fled, and Armand, the First Lethal Thorn of the Seven Lethal Thorns, stayed behind with his princess.
Where is the Maze of Thorns, and is there a shortcut?
Just south of Whiterose Tower: a large white stone ruin built on the cliffside. WOLF says it is hard to miss once you are close, and from the air it is the only built-up thing in that corner of the woods. The tracker now reads Flowers and Thorns - Rosetower Wood, Explore the legend of Flowers and Thorns in the Maze of Thorns.
Twine with a Budsquire before you go in. WOLF’s reason: the whole ruin is patrolled by the First Lethal Thorn’s Thornblades and Budsquires. As one of their own, you walk past them and talk to them. The guard at the door says it plainly: This is the domain of the Budsquire clan! I am sworn to protect Princess Melloblum’s honor, serving under the First Lethal Thorn!
The shortcut, in WOLF’s words: go straight down the hall as you enter, climb the wall directly in front of you, follow it along the top to the back of the ruins, and drop through the hole in the wall. Princess Melloblum’s tea party is straight ahead. One honest caveat on the footage: the tracker on WOLF’s screen during the wall run already reads the later Sightseeing step, so he filmed the route again after finishing, which proves the path exists but not that nothing blocks it on a first pass.
The long way is worth it once. The Patrolling Thornblades and Crying Budsquires along the main path tell you why the maze exists, and you need that information later. Take the shortcut and you will be sent back to find them anyway.
Defeating the First Lethal Thorn
At the back of the ruins the First Lethal Thorn stands guard and turns you away: Hmm? You’re not on the guest list for the princess’s tea party, leave at once! Beat him to get in.
The objective reads Defeat the First Lethal Thorn. On WOLF’s screen he is only Lv.23, with a countdown under his name, a short fight for anyone who has reached Rosetower Woods at all. The leaf beside his name marks him as Grass, and in our element chart Fire hits Grass for ×1.6.
The Dance of Blissful Bloom, and catching Melloblum
Inside, Melloblum greets you as a “co-conspirator”, mistaking you for one of the Bloomville people who have not visited in a century, then admits she cannot dance. I ought to have welcomed you with the Dance of Blissful Bloom... but... forgive me, I have lost that gift for the time being. It is the same dance that once made the whitesnow rose bloom.
If you took the long way and spoke to every Thornblade, you may already know enough to go on. If you took the shortcut, walk back into the maze, talk to the patrols and return. The answer, as WOLF puts it: the Thornblades protected their princess so hard that they cut her off from everything outside the ruins. Melloblum says it herself, Just as the Maze of Thorns protects us from the grumpy monsters outside, it also keeps us from knowing what the outside world is really like. The First Lethal Thorn apologises, and she dances.
Some of the Budsquires who had fled come back to watch. You offer to take her out to see the world; she refuses, because more of her people might return and she wants to be there to dance for them.
Then the game lets you catch her anyway. WOLF does exactly that, with the joke that he may have just collapsed the entire Thornblade monarchy. This matches the game’s own habitat text for Melloblum, which reads In the Maze of Thorns, after learning the secret of Melloblum’s Dance of Blissful Bloom, and adds that she respawns after progressing the quest [Flowers and Thorns - Rosetower Wood]. The data files hold a single Melloblum spawn zone, in Rosetower Woods; our interactive map shows it.
Do not bother throwing at the First Lethal Thorn, who stays in the ruins afterwards at Lv.45. WOLF’s Aniipod bounces off with a red Cannot catch.
How do you get the Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose?
Go back to Whiterose Tower, now covered in white flowers, twine with a Budsquire and strike one of the Cubbo’s roses growing near it. The quest steers you there itself: the tracker becomes Flowers and Thorns: Rosetower Wood - Sightseeing, with Twine with a Budsquire and hit the Cubbo’s rose, and a hint pops up reading A change was detected in the Cubbo’s rose energy. I suggest that you twine with a Budsquire and strike the Cubbo’s roses.
The hit drops a Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose. WOLF’s advice is the most important line in the video: grab one before you move on, because the evolution needs it. The Evolve screen confirms it is one of exactly two costs, at 1/1.
Whitesnow Rose Aromathyst and Awen’s perfume, Home
With the flowers back, the thorns on the tower door are gone. Go in and meet Awen. The tracker reads Explore the interior of Whiterose Tower. Inside are the perfumers’ old notes, and Awen works out that “the couple from Azureville” in them were her grandparents, which is why her scent always differed from everyone else’s in Bloomville. After the great upheaval a century ago they never made it back to Azureville, and one last perfume from the whitesnow rose was left unfinished. It already had a name.
The objective is now Twine with a Dewy and gather nectar at the top of the tower. The intended route clears the rubble around the old machinery, restarts the perfume factory and rides the wind column it switches on. The rubble refuses weak hits, This skill isn’t powerful enough to break it. Try using a stronger skill, and WOLF’s view is that the whole detour is optional: fly or climb straight up instead.
At the top, twine with a Dewy and collect nectar from the whitesnow rose. No Dewy on you? WOLF had released all of his, and there is a catchable one right there on the roof. Then Go to the Dewy nest to brew an aromathyst, the little birdhouse nearby.
The nest turns the nectar into Whitesnow Rose Aromathyst, Aromathyst crafted with whitesnow rose nectar. It has a cold yet joyful scent. Its card adds a last piece of lore: this was once the White Plateau, and the Beardow Woods were the only path up to it.
Take it down to Awen. She finishes the perfume, gives you the bottle of Home and leaves to look for a way back to Azureville, and the Journey is complete. One correction to the video’s description, which lists Whitesnow Rose Aromathyst among Melloblum’s evolution materials: on the Evolve screen at 7:37 the cost is two items, the green stone and the Stamen, and the aromathyst is not one of them. You still need to finish this part, though, because the first requirement is the completed Journey.
How do you evolve Budsquire into Melloblum?
Open the Evolve screen on a Budsquire of level 27 or higher with Faithful in its personality, and pay one green evolution stone and one Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose. WOLF’s screen spells out every condition.
| Line on the Evolve screen | What it means |
|---|---|
| Unlock Evolution: Complete Journey: Flowers and Thorns. | The whole chain above, through to Awen’s perfume |
| Evolution Criteria: Aniimo level 27 | The Budsquire itself, not your Pathfinder level |
| Evolution Criteria: Personality contains [Faithful] | The F letter of the T/F axis |
| Cost: green stone 1/1 | WOLF calls it the Sprout Stone; see the next section |
| Cost: Stamen of Cubbo’s Rose 1/1 | From the Cubbo’s rose, hit while twined with a Budsquire |
On Faithful: WOLF says “F or Faithful”, and both are right. Personality in Aniimo is four letters, and our personality guide shows that F, the Emotional pole of the T/F axis, carries the named trait Faithful (M.DEF +6%). Any Budsquire with an F in its four letters qualifies. One without it needs a Psyche Fruit, or a different Budsquire, which is usually cheaper.
Where do you get the green evolution stone? Alpha Leafy in Mistwoods
Beat the Alpha Leafy in the Mistwoods: its first clear pays two of the green stones. The stone is not part of the Journey, WOLF points out, and he names it the Sprout Stone. The Evolve screen shows only its icon, but it is the same green orb that sits in the Alpha’s reward list at 7:54, so the match is on screen even if the name is his.
The panel reads Lv.45, Respawn Interval: 20s, with Ice, Lightning and Wind highly recommended and Water and Earth not recommended. Leafy is Grass and Water in our data. Our map pins the Leafy Alpha. The Institute Guide’s Alpha Challenge also lists Leafy on its Evolution Material tab, as our Alpha guide shows, so that is a second place to farm it once the first clear is spent.
Prismana Melloblum and the Vein Abundance week
This week, 28 September 04:00 to 5 October 03:59 (UTC+8), Vein Abundance boosts Prismana Melloblum in Rosetower Woods. The window comes from the official 23 September update notice and needs the Student II title. Prismana Melloblum is Grass and Light, a Support with the same 517 total base stats as the Basic Form, and the data files place it on the same spawn zone. The Vein Abundance page has the whole calendar, and our rotation guide explains why a cube is better spent on Glynsera or Inferlupa: Melloblum is region-bound and can be nurtured in Rosetower Woods any week.
WOLF’s video does not touch the Prismana Form, and nothing on his screen says whether the questline is needed to meet it. What we can say: the boost and the quest share a region, so doing the Journey this week puts you in Rosetower Woods at the right time.
Is Melloblum worth it?
As a squad support for Grass damage dealers, yes. Melloblum is a Grass Support, No.036 in our Aniidex, with 517 total base stats: 95 HP, 113 P.ATK, 91 M.ATK, 70 P.DEF, 70 M.DEF and 78 Haste. Its trait, Phantom Opening, gives it a [Rose Mark] stack each time a squadmate lands a basic attack, up to ten, and each stack cuts its EP cost by 3. Thorny Blessing grants the whole team thorns that trigger on Grass critical damage for 15 seconds, Healing Rose heals nearby allies for 5% of Melloblum’s HP after three critical hits, and the Ultimate, Rose Garden, raises allies’ Grass Crit Damage for 30 seconds.
Our position: catch the Maze Melloblum for the Aniidex and the research, then evolve a Faithful Budsquire with good Potential for the squad. Budsquire is a Lumin Stage DPS with 428 total base stats and grows 89 points on the way to Nova. The team builder will tell you whether your squad is short of a Grass support, and the tier list places Melloblum against the rest of the roster.
