Aniimo Pre-Download Guide: How to Preload on PC, PS5 and Xbox Before Launch

Pre-download is live from 14 September. On PC anyone can preload through the official launcher with no pre-order, on PS5 and Xbox a pre-order bundle is still required, and Steam and Epic are not listed as preload options yet.

The Nimbus Fields grasslands of Idyll at daybreak, the open world waiting behind the Aniimo pre-download

Aniimo pre-download opened on 14 September 2026 at 10:00 (UTC+8) for PC and consoles, two days before the servers open. Pre-download, which players also write as predownload or preload, is the difference between playing at launch and watching a progress bar while everyone else starts.

What you can preload is not the same on every platform. On PC, anyone can pre-download Aniimo through the official Aniimo PC launcher, pre-order or not. On PS5 and Xbox, console preload currently needs one of the paid pre-order bundles. Steam and the Epic Games Store are not listed as preload options at the moment. This guide covers how to download Aniimo on each platform, the Aniimo download size, and the Aniimo launch time on each server.

When does Aniimo pre-download open?

Aniimo pre-download opened on 14 September 2026 at 10:00 (UTC+8), announced in the official pre-download notice. It covers PC and both consoles. Mobile is not part of it: iOS and Android arrive a week later, on 23 September.

So the answer to "when can I download Aniimo" is: now, if you are on PC, or on a console where you pre-ordered. The full game files are already on the servers waiting to be pulled.

Pre-download does not let you in early. It copies the game to your drive so that, when the servers open, the only thing left is a short unlock and whatever day-one patch is waiting. On a slow connection that is the difference between a few minutes and most of an evening.

How to pre-download Aniimo on PC with the official launcher

The official Aniimo PC launcher is the one route open to everybody. With or without a pre-order, anyone can pre-download the game through it.

  1. Clear the space first. Budget 45 GB and put it on an SSD if you have one. The pre-download notice recommends an SSD with roughly 40 GB free for the PC client, and our Aniimo system requirements page carries the full official spec.
  2. Go to aniimo.com. The official site holds the download links for every platform, the PC launcher included. Take it from there and from nowhere else.
  3. Download the launcher. It is a small installer. The game itself comes afterwards.
  4. Install the client. Run the installer and pick the drive with the free space on it.
  5. Start the game download inside the launcher. This is the pre-download proper, and it does not always begin on its own.
  6. Let the full game files finish. A launcher that is installed is not a game that is downloaded. Watch the bar reach the end before you call it done.
  7. Keep the launcher installed. Day-one patches arrive through it, and you want those before 10:00 (UTC+8) on 16 September rather than after.

Start it today rather than on the morning of the 16th. Launch-week traffic on any distribution network is heaviest in the last hours before a release, and a 45 GB download that crawls is a self-inflicted problem when the files have been available since the 14th.

No purchase is involved at any point in that list. Aniimo is free-to-play, and the PC pre-download is free with it.

Can you preload Aniimo on PS5 and Xbox?

Yes, with a condition attached. Console preload currently requires having bought one of the corresponding pre-order bundles: the Advanced Edition at $9.99 or the Collector’s Edition at $19.99. Without one of those on the account, there is nothing to preload on PS5 or Xbox yet.

One trap is worth naming, because it catches people every launch. Seeing Aniimo in your library does not mean the game is downloaded. The tile appears as soon as the entitlement lands. The files do not come with it.

What to check on each console:

  • PS5: open the Aniimo tile and start the download rather than assuming it queued itself, then check your downloads list and wait for it to read as ready to play instead of partially installed.
  • Xbox Series X|S: the same drill. Find Aniimo under My games and apps, start the install, and confirm it is not parked at zero per cent behind another download.

Console account linking is a separate step, and it is the one you cannot redo: the linking pop-up is offered once, at first launch. Our cross-progression and account linking guide walks through it properly.

If you have not pre-ordered and do not want to, the PC launcher is the free alternative. Buying a bundle purely to preload is a thin reason to spend: the pre-order Q&A sets out what is actually in each pack and what the platform-exclusive accessories amount to.

Is there a Steam or Epic Games preload?

Not at the moment. Steam and the Epic Games Store are not listed as official preload options for Aniimo, so there is no Aniimo Steam preload and no Aniimo Epic Games preload to start today.

Wishlisting on Steam is not a preload. Neither is a pre-order that puts the game in your library. Neither one places game files on your drive before launch.

The workaround is the launcher everyone else is already using. If you prefer Steam, Epic or another supported PC client, pre-download through the official Aniimo PC launcher now, play at launch, and install through your preferred client later, once it becomes available there. Nothing is lost by doing it in that order.

The studio corrected earlier incorrect information about this, so older posts and videos claiming a Steam preload is live are out of date. If being ready the second the servers open is the goal, use the official PC launcher.

How many GB is Aniimo?

The Aniimo download size by platform, with each figure labelled for what it is:

  • PC, official requirement: 45 GB of available space, per the Steam listing. That is the number our system requirements page carries, and it is the one to plan around.
  • PC, pre-download guidance: about 40 GB free, on an SSD, as recommended in the pre-download notice for the PC client.
  • PS5 and Xbox Series X|S: roughly 30–35 GB, reported rather than officially published. Treat it as an estimate and leave headroom.
  • iOS and Android: not published. Mobile arrives on 23 September and no install size has been stated for it.

Two different PC figures is not a contradiction. 45 GB is the storage requirement on the store listing, which covers the installed game with room to work in. Roughly 40 GB is what the client download itself wants free. Clearing 45 GB satisfies both and still leaves a little room for the day-one patch.

What time does Aniimo launch in my region?

Aniimo goes live at 10:00 (UTC+8) on 16 September 2026 on PC and consoles, but the servers do not all open at the same wall-clock moment. These are the times published in the pre-download notice:

ServerLaunch timeSame moment elsewhere
Aniimo-America15 September, 22:00 (UTC-4)19:00 PDT on 15 September
Aniimo-Europe16 September, 02:00 (UTC+0)03:00 BST · 04:00 CEST
Aniimo-Apac16 September, 10:00 (UTC+8)the headline launch time

So the question of what time Aniimo releases has three answers, and the one that applies to you is the one for the server you pick.

Note what the Americas row does to the date. That server opens on the evening of 15 September local time, ahead of the calendar date most people have in their heads. If you are in North America and waiting for the 16th, you are a day late to your own launch.

Pick that server deliberately, because progression is per server. Aniimo does not share progress across servers, so the server you create your character on is the server your whole collection lives on. Being on the same one as your friends matters more than being on the one that opens first. Our cross-progression guide explains how the server rule interacts with console account linking.

Day-one checklist

  1. Preload finished, not merely started. Check the launcher or the console download list the night before.
  2. Launcher left installed and updated. The day-one patch comes through it on PC.
  3. Aniimo account created. Making it on PC first gives you an account email to link a console to.
  4. Console account-linking pop-up handled at first launch. It is offered once. Skip it and the console creates a separate account that cannot be merged afterwards.
  5. Server chosen, and the same one on every device.
  6. Pre-order items claimed where you bought them. Launch on that platform, claim from the in-game mailbox, activate.
  7. Codes ready. Launch codes tend to appear in the first hours: our Aniimo codes page tracks them as they are published.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Steam and Epic Games preload timing. Neither storefront is listed as a preload option at the moment, and no date has been published for when either might become one.
  • Mobile install size. Not published. The App Store and Google Play listings do not give a final figure ahead of the 23 September release.
  • Day-one patch size. Not published. Leave space beyond the install figure rather than filling the drive to the last gigabyte.

Everything else about launch day is already on the site. The release date and platforms guide has the storefronts and the two editions, system requirements has the PC specs behind that 45 GB figure, the pre-order Q&A covers the packs and the claim order, and the beginner guide walks the first hours once the servers open.

When can I pre-download Aniimo?

Aniimo pre-download opened on 14 September 2026 at 10:00 (UTC+8) on PC and consoles, two days before the 16 September launch. There is no mobile pre-download: iOS and Android arrive on 23 September.

How do I pre-download Aniimo on PC?

Download the official Aniimo PC launcher from aniimo.com, install the client, then start the game download inside the launcher and let the full files finish. No pre-order is needed, and keeping the launcher installed is how the day-one patch reaches you.

Do I need to pre-order to preload Aniimo?

Not on PC: anyone can pre-download through the official Aniimo PC launcher, with or without a pre-order. On PS5 and Xbox, console preload currently requires one of the pre-order bundles, the Advanced Edition at $9.99 or the Collector’s Edition at $19.99.

Can I preload Aniimo on PS5?

Yes, if one of the pre-order bundles is on your PlayStation account. Seeing Aniimo in your library is not enough: open the tile, start the preload and let it complete, or you will be downloading the whole game at launch.

Can I preload Aniimo on Xbox?

Yes, on the same condition as PS5: an Advanced or Collector’s Edition pre-order on the account. Start the install from My games and apps and confirm it finishes, because the library tile appears before any files are downloaded.

Is Aniimo on Steam preload?

No. Steam and the Epic Games Store are not listed as official preload options at the moment, and wishlisting is not a preload. Use the official Aniimo PC launcher now and install through Steam or Epic later, once it becomes available there.

How many GB is Aniimo?

The Steam listing asks for 45 GB of available space on PC, and the pre-download notice recommends an SSD with about 40 GB free for the client. Console preload is reported at roughly 30–35 GB, which is not an official figure, and the mobile install size has not been published.

What time does Aniimo release?

At 10:00 (UTC+8) on 16 September 2026 on PC and consoles. By server that is 15 September at 22:00 (UTC-4) on Aniimo-America, which is 19:00 PDT, 16 September at 02:00 (UTC+0) on Aniimo-Europe, which is 03:00 BST and 04:00 CEST, and 16 September at 10:00 (UTC+8) on Aniimo-Apac.

Is Aniimo free to download?

Yes. Aniimo is free-to-play, and nothing has to be bought to pre-download it on PC or to play it on any platform. The two pre-order bundles are optional packs of in-game items and cosmetics.

Can I pre-download Aniimo on mobile?

No. Mobile arrives on 23 September, a week after PC and consoles, and no mobile pre-download has been offered. An App Store pre-order or pre-registration reserves the download; it is not a preload and puts nothing on your phone in advance.
